Organisation

Incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2007, the Consortium is a voluntary association headed by an Executive Board formed by the three founders and Dr. Jochen Fried, of the Salzburg Seminar. Its office in located in Bratislava, Slovakia, at the Bratislava International School for Liberal Arts (BISLA). The Executive Board is responsible for the overall supervision, implementation and evaluation of projects undertaken. It invites and assigns various expert associates required for each project, organizes meetings, seminars, and workshops, disseminates information through publications and the website, and assumes the fiduciary responsibility for the organization. While Board members may divide individual project responsibilities on a case-by-case basis, all decisions regarding overall organizational and financial issues are reached by consensus.

ECOLAS Associates are the team of international educational experts who work in association with the consortium and who are assigned to projects depending on their particular areas of expertise and experience. Each is committed to the particular values of liberal education and to the overall mission of ECOLAS.

Closely established professional relationships with educational organizations such as the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO), Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), Global Liberal Arts Alliance (GLAA), etc., help to ensure that the Consortium is able to maintain a strong advisory resource base as well as provide appropriate models for a wide range of potential project initiatives.
